What petty bu11sh*t breaks
through yon wondrous screen
tis a raven, nothing more

I walked to the park looking,
looking for Uncle Sams
but them I did not find
twas a raven, nothing more

Instead I found the poets
roaming round randomly
muttering to and
amongst themselves
tis a raven, nothing more

Rhyming oranges
with dear Lenore
a raven, yes a raven,
nothing, nothing more

They stared into the
smoke-orange sunset
and called it literature,
twas a raven, nothing more

I saw them wishing
their life less sunburnt,
less written in the dust
tis a raven, nothing more

The Uncle Sams
were at the trough
but could not get a drink
twas the ravens, nothing more

The blistered walls
the stinging brains
the burning of the socks

cardigans bristling
on the backs of chairs
tis a raven, nothing more

I pray the Sams and poets
don’t wander into the street
praise the raven, nevermore

leaving only chiseled names
on that black reflecting wall
tis a raven, nothing more.

  • I didn't follow it all, Kenny, but it held my attention all the way to the end. Really, really like this one.

It has a wonderful wisdom knocking at the door. Tis a raven nothing more. *smile*

    Somehow, an innate gut feel

that this is an important poem

    despite it grazing

    my feeble mind

    under the influence

    of an evil Morpheus

    A reaction to internet/poetic/political pretentiousness....
